First Watch

November 1, 2019 – First Watch, The Daytime Cafe, is making waves in the industry in the eyes of not only their customers but also the community, as well. Their new location and commitment to end child hunger is giving us plenty to be thankful for this season.

The Florida-based company is known as the Daytime Café because of its limited hours and commitment to serving the highest quality breakfast, brunch and lunch from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The concept first opened in 1983 by John Sullivan and Ken Pendery, who currently holds the chairman position within the company.

A new location just opened in Belden Village, the restaurant company’s 10th in the Cleveland-Akron area, on September 30th. This new location is First Watch’s first stand-alone restaurant locally, residing in a space once occupied by The Rustic Barrel. The cafes have historically been situated within strip centers. The new First Watch will employ 30 to 40 people with seating for 200.

This opening is just in time to celebrate First Watch’s 10th consecutive year partnering with No Kid Hungry. The goal of No Kid Hungry is to turn a $1 donation into 10 meals for children living in homes that cannot provide the nutrition they need to do well in school and stay healthy.

First Watch stays involved by donating 25 cents per kids meal sold, year round, to No Kid Hungry. To top it off, The Daytime Cafe also has an Autumn menu that includes a pumpkin pancake with special meaning. For each pumpkin pancake that was sold in the month of September, First Watch donated even more proceeds.

First Watch has donated more than $1.3 million to No Kid Hungry, equating to more than 13 million meals for children in need in the United States.

First Watch has more than 370 locations that span across 31 states, making them the “fastest-growing daytime-only restaurant concept in the United States”.

With a plethora of awards over the years, including Business Intelligence Group’s Best Places to Work in 2018 and Top Consumer Pick by Nation’s Restaurant News, it’s no wonder First Watch is growing rapidly.
