While reflecting over his 15 years, Rob has shared some of his experiences and insights.
Rob, what have you learned and how have you grown in your career since joining Goodman Real Estate?
When I first started in commercial real estate, it was at the beginning of the Great Recession. I started off assisting all the agents at Goodman on their listings with cold calls and showings. Deals were challenging, it was a tough time for everyone. I remember thinking: ‘if I can make it through this, I can make it through anything’. Fortunately, things got better! It was intimidating to begin my career in such a difficult market, but it challenged me to learn and be resilient. Over the last 15 years, my business and expertise has grown, but I still lean on these experiences whenever faced with a difficult challenge.
What attracted you to Goodman Real Estate Services Group?
I could tell that communication was very important and part of the company culture. The agents all meet regularly to discuss deals, market conditions and new to market tenants. Also, we do multiple team buildings events outside of the office.
What do you think is the most important quality someone requires to be successful in commercial real estate?
First and foremost, everything you do must be centered around what is best for your client. If your client is successful, then you will have personal success.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
Every day is different in this industry, especially if you have a diverse business. One day you can be preleasing a ground up development and the next day you will be planning a market rollout for a new to market tenant.
