Q: Dan, what about commercial real estate interested you in the first place?
A: I actually started as an intern while in college, so I didn’t really know the business, let alone have any interest in it. After working with a number of the agents, I became very interested in the entire deal process and the ability to create something real. I really liked seeing how everything was put together to get a retailer or restaurant into business.
Q: What are some of your greatest achievements while working for Goodman Real Estate?
A: I have lived and worked in three different cities throughout my career: Cleveland, Indianapolis, and Columbus. These moves have allowed me the opportunity to not only learn new markets but have given me exposure to new people and relationships that I feel I have successfully navigated. I am proud to have intimately learned multiple markets and successfully transacted deals in each of those markets with national retailers and restaurants.
Q: What do you find most challenging about being a commercial real estate agent, and how do you overcome those challenges?
A: The most challenging part of being a commercial real estate agent is identifying opportunities when there are seemingly none. What makes a great broker is the ability to execute your client’s plan when the path is not clearly visible. I overcome this with creativity and a tenacious approach to securing those sites. At the end of the day, it’s being organized and having a willingness to work hard.
Q: What do you love most about your job?
A: I don’t know who said it, but I have always followed the saying “I am not in the business of making friends, but I love making friends from business.” The relationships I’ve been able to make throughout my career are what keep me motivated and truly interested in what I do on a daily basis.
