Q: Chad, what about commercial real estate initially interested you?

A: My father-in-law owned several Verizon stores in various shopping centers throughout central Ohio, many of the centers owned by the late Dick Solove. One day while I was in the store Mr. Solove walked in. I was intrigued about commercial real estate in general and asked if he’d have a few minutes to meet with me. He graciously did so, then offered me a job shortly thereafter.

Q: What attracted you to Goodman Real Estate Services Group?

A: Many things…strong reputation and smart people that are good at their jobs. I’ve known Dan Clark and Zack Sogoloff over 20 years and have always respected their work and the group as a whole. It’s a team. It’s a family.

Q: How have you grown in your career since joining Goodman Real Estate?

A: I came from the shopping center leasing side. It’s eye opening all that goes into tenant representation. Having the opportunity and ability do both has allowed me to become more well-rounded.

Q: What do you think sets your approach to commercial real estate apart from others in the industry?

A: It really starts with our exceptional and talented marketing team. I wouldn’t be able to apply my approach without them. My approach is not unlike many others. The biggest thing is being prepared and remember you’re the expert. If it’s a site tour, have each market identified and that information readily available. Drive the tour prior, so you’re not tripped up. Whether it’s tenant representation or shopping center leasing, you need to be making calls about off-market sites. What tenants are weak or not renewing? If an “available” sign goes up, you’re likely too late. Anyone can call on a sign.

Q: What do you enjoy most about your job?

A: An entrepreneurial spirit that allows for creativeness and rewards hard work. I enjoy being exposed to different projects that force me to be inventive. There’s nothing better than uncovering that site that no one knows about.
