August 13, 2026: Rural King purchased a former department store and additional shop space totaling 85,000 square feet on 6.5 acres at 1605 Curtis Bridge Road in Wilkesboro, North Carolina. The property was formerly a mall that was later converted into office space by Lowe’s Corporation. Lowe’s has since relocated and sold the property to Finley Properties who is in the process of redeveloping the property into a mixed-use development. Rural King is the first anchor tenant to commit to the redevelopment. The site is surrounded by national retailers including Walmart, Lowe’s Home Improvement, ALDI, Kohl’s, Planet Fitness, Big Lots, and many more.
